Cooking at the Red Feather Inn

Set in historic Georgian sandstone houses built by convicts around 1839, the Red Feather Inn is a charming propriety in the village of Hadspen, northern Tasmania, Australia. Only 15 minutes drive from Launceston airport and close to various historic villages and the Tamar Valley wine route, the Red Feather Inn is perfect to enjoy the tranquility of the countryside.

The propriety, designed combining modern comforts with a rustic French provincial style, offers 7 rooms and cottages (red feather room, library and garden suites, the attic, the watchhouse and murphetts cottages and the loft). All rooms overlook the tranquil garden and have a sitting area where to relax. The watchhouse and murphetts, originally used as offices, today are two cottages divided in rooms, open kitchens, dining areas and have private gardens.

The Red Feather Inn restaurant offers a menu with three choices of entree, main and dessert made with local fresh produce and Tasmanian and Australian wines.

Perfect as a venue for a small wedding and events, the complex has multiple function areas and conference facilities. The owner, Lydia Nettlefold, with her passion for food and for cooking, opened a school to teach and shares her knowledge of international cuisine and uses the ingredients grown on the propriety.
