The mystique of Kisiwa House

Kisiwa House, Kisiwa meaning island in Swahili, is an elegant boutique hotel located in a quiet street in the historical centre of Stone Town, on Zanzibar Island. Stone Town is  the main town on the island, starting as a fishing village and today as one of the touristy destinations.

Influenced by Middle Eastern architecture, with narrow streets full of the aromas and spices, with  wooden doors and balconies carved by Indian craftsmen, Stone Town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Kisiwa House is in a traditional Zanzibar town house, built in 1840, with a splendid wooden staircase, a collection of private antique furniture, Persian carpets and a gracious courtyard Tea Lounge with a fountain, where guests can get a traditional Zanzibar tea and freshly baked pastries. The 11 rooms and suites in Swahili style (Deluxe Rooms, Junior Suites and Senior Suites) designed with luxurious interiors and colourful textiles, are spacious and surrounded by tranquil scenery. One of the suites has a separate sitting area, ideal for a family with children.

The rooftop restaurant Darini, with a wonderful panoramic view of the city and of the Indian Ocean, has a comfortable ambiance with special antique décors and offers traditional and continental specialities with spices and fresh food.
