Paradise Road The Villa Bentota is located in Bentona, a river village in the Galle District of Sri Lanka, 35 min drive from Galle Fort town.
Converted in the 1970s as boutique hotel from an old colonial house by the Architect Geoffrey Bawa, Villa Bentota is in a coconut palm plantation, separated from the beach by a railway line. The train that occasionally passes is one of the attractions of the area. From 2007 the current owner Shanth Fernando, founder of Paradise Road, extended the property, adding an entrance pavilion and swimming pool, reopening the Villa at the end of 2009.
Villa Bentota is a charming beachside hotel with 15 rooms and suites distributed around the property. All rooms are decorated with local traditional furniture, Dutch antiques and coloured textiles. Located on different levels, some rooms face the garden or have balconies and courtyards. The Mohotti Suite, perfect for families, has two double rooms with four post beds, Persian rugs, a separate lounge area and private stairwell.
Guests can spend time on the beach or swim in the pools and after an intense day they can enjoy an authentic pizza oven or traditional cuisine in the Villa Café restaurant, located in the newly built pavilion. The team organizes different activities such as water sports, boat rides, excursions, day tours and available for private events, weddings and meeting.
